The challenge is designed to create dedicated time and space to build more effective social justice habits, particularly those dealing with issues of race, power, privilege, and leadership. This challenge was originally developed by Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr. They, in turn, were inspired by Food Solutions New England — they were the first to adapt an exercise from Dr.
They are now entering their sixth year of coordinating the Challenge with more than 3, participants. Participants will be prompted daily with challenges such as reading an article, listening to a podcast, reflecting on personal experiences, and more. Participation in an activity like this helps us to discover how racial injustice and social injustice impact our community, connect with one another, and identify ways to dismantle racism and other forms of discrimination.
This is an exciting opportunity to dive deep into racial equity and social justice. Our special Summer edition of the challenge starts on Friday, June 19, and continues daily through July 9.

The opening of a trail through the flats to the foothills of the Shawangunks has created a world of possibilities, one of which was realized this week in the inaugural New Paltz Challenge River-to-Ridge 5K race. More than participants took to the gravel path on a brisk November morning, the Sunday sky blue with promise. As with any event organized under the New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce banner, this one was executed through the hard work of a bevy of volunteers dating back weeks, if not months.

Covid Updates. Ryan brought a van full of toys for our holiday store, as well as a gift basket for each family, and flags so that each child at A Safe Place could show their support for the Bears. Event News: Registration will begin in the summer of , date to be determined. The 12K is an out-and-back course from the Marathon finish that includes a loop through the beautiful Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. Please be sure to make your travel plans accordingly. No bus tickets are required for the 12K. Entrants are responsible for their own transportation to the start at the Marathon Finish Village. There will be food, water, portable restrooms, and entertainment at the start area.
